Formerly known as Qui, Rochester, NY-native rapper BVNGS drops her edgy new visuals for her single “CREAM” (and it’s not one for the faint-hearted!). Please don’t be fooled by the title. There’s nothing sweet about “CREAM”. Taken from N/A EP, BVNGS gets her goon on with the squad as they hit a lick on some poor suckers abode. The track combines a bass heavy, booming beat with an infectious woozy hook and a drive to get it by any means necessary. BVNGS’ debut EP N/A will be out this Summer.

About BVNGS

BVNGS, born and raised in Rochester, New York, has been making her way into the industry since she was 9-years-old. In 2013, she signed to an independent label which led her to move to New York City. Soon after the contract ended, she changed her name. Next, the recording artist began to develop a unique sound to call her own. It was then she created the critically-acclaimed “Crush On You,” a song inspired by the late rapper, Notorious BIG’s voice on Lil Kim’s hit record of the same name.

Within a few hours of its release, the demo was shared by hundreds of fans online. Since August of 2015, she has been mastering her debut EP, aptly titled “N/A.” Its lead single is set to release sometime this Summer.

Stay tuned for more from BVNGS. Follow her social profiles online.

As the son of Congolese immigrants, Charlotte rapper Well$ is no stranger to tales of struggle. Like many families across the country, Well$ and his family have carved out a successful life for themselves in the United States. New single “Day Ones” serves as a tribute to those who have had his back from the very beginning. Loyalty can never be overrated. Produced by KOMODO, “Day Ones” is the taken from Well$’ upcoming project All Kings Get Their Heads Chopped Off, dropping June 8th.

“7th Grade, had a concept down of paying rent/Cause daddy broke/ain’t like ain’t nobody know/snotty-nosed n*gga still plottin’ on your bottom hoe/all I had was my words.” Well$

About Well$

Like most kids in his native town of Charlotte, North Carolina, Leroy Shingu had a head filled with hip-hop dreams growing up, even trying his hand at freestyling when he was all of nine years old. But a trying background starkly different from the blissful suburban reality of his peers would compel the rapper better known as Well$ to turn that childhood fantasy into a promising career as a rapper. Quietly released in 2012, $ay La V, Well$’ debut EP rose steadily on the Bandcamp charts to peak at number 5 and eventually become the most downloaded album in the Charlotte area. This remarkable ascent as well as the video for the song “State of Ecstasy The Interlude Part 1? hauled Well$ out of virtual anonymity, and shoved him onto high profile stage performances with artists such as G Eazy, Chris Webby, Johnny Polygon, and one of his idols, Pac Div. His 2014 project, MTSYD: Revenge of the African Booty Scratcher was well-received by fans and critics alike and he followed it up with the equally accomplished The Way I’m Living Makes My Mom Nervous in 2016.

As they prepare to release their forthcoming Coral Cadavers album, German production duo JR&PH7 (Roc Marciano, Sean Price, Ras Kass) with New Jersey rap trio, St. Joe Louis for their single “Invitation”. On this space-age, soul glazed audible, the team acquire a stunning guest verse from Phonte , and melodious vocals courtesy of songstress Tamisha Waden.

“So many cliches get parroted, lets change the narrative, I’ll spare you the hurt, you spare me the embarrassment” Phonte

Coral Cadavers was written as a concept album of a “neo-noir psychological thriller about a woman’s descent into moral ambiguities, against the backdrop of Los Angeles.” ‘Invitation’ is another impressive song from that said LP, which has already unveiled several digital singles including ‘Driven’ (feat. Roc Marciano), ‘Duck Duck Goose’ (feat. Rah Digga), and ‘I Want It All.’ #jrandph7 #stjoelouis #phonte #tamishawaden #invitation

A few days ago, Nas took to his website Massappeal.com and published an open letter to his readers. In the letter, Nas addresses the obstacles that African-Americans have and still endure on a day to day basis and how and why his music is a tool to educate the youth and the community as a whole. You can read a snippet of the open letter below.

The only way the black man gets a little piece in America is if he takes the O.J. stance: “I’m not black, I’m O.J.” When you ignore the shit that’s happening to people you can live in this fantasy, this American fantasy that you belong to… who? You ignore what’s happening, and that gives you peace. Because what’s going on is enough to make people insane.

Some guy lynched in a tree at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia, and the cops rule it a suicide. Now, don’t get me wrong—suicides happen. There are blacks suffering from mental illness just like whites suffering from mental illness, except that whites who suffer from mental illness and have interactions with the cops, they end up living. Blacks, we get killed. So if you want to sit back and ignore all that, go the O.J. route. Just remember, even he got dealt with at the end of the day.

So where do I stand? I stand just as a man, doing what I have to do. Doing what I was born to do. No one can tell me who I am. No one can tell me where I can go and cannot go.

No one can tell me what’s right based on what works for their system, and have me believe it. Nah.

The Creator put us here to do our thing, so I do my thing. And I don’t pay attention to politics at the moment. For what? There’s no reason. For me, it doesn’t make any sense. We all know a racist is in office. People can talk their shit. Comedians can sound racist. People can go through their moments of that shit, but when you have the responsibility of being President and you carry on like that, you send a strong message to people outside of your group that they ain’t worth shit.

So why would I focus on that unless I’m in the political game? Unless I’m running for office I don’t have to pay attention to know that. If I ever vote again—when it’s time to vote again, and I feel like voting again—I don’t have to follow the news to know who I’m voting against. But then you wind up saying “Who’s the next motherfucker coming in, and how does that help?”

My way of addressing these issues is through my work. Whatever president may be in office doesn’t affect my work directly. The way he affects people is what affects me. I observe what’s going on and that goes into my creative process. The person himself, I’m not caught up with. I don’t even have time for Trump or Pence. I don’t give a fuck.

My focus is on what’s happening with real people in their everyday lives. How they behave, the decisions they make, and how that affects families. I grew up in a single-parent household, so I was affected by that life. But it didn’t stop me. So I speak to the everyday people. I speak to everybody. If the people are bothered by it, I speak on it. If the people are bothered and want change, I speak on that.

It’s the same way I felt as a youngster when Ronald Reagan was in office. My voice at that point didn’t fuckin’ matter to anybody. I didn’t care. You know what’s different today? I’m older, that means I’m more responsible. That means paying attention to what’s happening to my country.

But in reality, art is gonna thrive regardless. Whether it’s affected by who’s in office or not, art thrives. I live in that—I live in those walls, I live in those wires, I live in those pencils and papers, and that sound. I’m not caught up in politics. I saw Gerald Ford and his vice president Nelson Rockefeller. I saw Jimmy Carter. I saw Ronald Reagan, and I saw George Bush, Sr. I saw Bill Clinton, George Bush, Jr., and Barack Obama. I’m good.

I got my own things to say and I been saying how I feel on the mic. Sometimes people ask me “Why you didn’t say this?” or “Why you didn’t talk about that?” You got a million people out here with a million different views and I heard it all. I talked about it all. I thought about most of the shit somebody could think of. I move through action. My music is action. What I’m giving you through my music is my actions.

With the release of his new album Boomiverse being just around the corner, it’s only right that Big Boi liberates the stupefying visuals to “Kill Jill”, featuring Killer Mike and Jeezy to indulge his fans. Quentin Tarantino for me is one of my favorite Hollywood directors. A visual that flips the name of one of his most iconic movies can be nothing short of dynamic, and this video does not disappoint. In the video, Jeezy lays down his verse from a shadowy gentlemen’s club and Killer Mike hits the streets with monochrome American flags in tow. Big Boi dons some impressive medieval attire as he sits atop a luxurious golden throne, (fans of Game Of Thrones will appreciate the nod). Hatsune Miku makes a brief cameo towards the end. Sounds bananas, right? However, it all ties in neatly. Why wouldn’t a Game Of Thrones/Kill Bill-themed video be a-may-zing?! Check it out below!

Boomiverse is due out June 16th via Epic.

We’ve been patiently awaiting Joey B‘s Closure album since his #16Weeks16Remixes16FreeDownloads campaign. The North Chelmsford, MA lyricist offered up some scorchingly hot bars over some of our favorite industry instrumentals. Today, we are stoked to be able to bring you all the full stream of his new album!

For the album, Joey taps heavy-hitters Joe Budden, Kxng Crooked, Trev Rich, Slaine, Tsu Surf and Pace Won for guest appearances. C-Lance, Blessed By The Beats, Dark Night, Mikey Bingo and Myster DL all hold down the fort on the production end of the project.

Closure seems to be a perfectly fitting title for this album as all 12 tracks on the album speak upon real life events. Each song references various different situations Joey has dealt with from drug addiction to Crohn’s Disease to Bi-Polar disorder to Stage 3 Kidney disease and of course relationship struggles. On the track ‘So many thoughts’ Joey explains how at a young age he was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, put on strong medications which eventually lead to full on addiction.
The album kicks off with the song “Blacklist” which is an in your face quick intro banger that really grabs the attention of the listener and pulls them in. In a rare situation these days all 12 tracks have replay value which is very rare as of late, Other standout tracks on the album include the super radio friendly track “Wrong Time” (Ft. Trev Rich & Red Pages) “Better Off Apart” “By Myself”(Ft. Joe Budden) “Rock Bottom To Back” (Ft. Slaine) and the already fan favorite track and next single off ‘Closure’ “Trust Issues”. It would also be criminally wrong to review this album and not touch on the title track “Closure”. The song is a dedication to a significant other that Joey lost in August of 2016 due to complications with addiction, it is one of the most heartfelt songs, not only on the album but that you will ever hear.

Moroccan-born, Queens resident Abir releases the visuals to her third single titled “Girls”. The EFF3X produced-song is based on a conversation the 22-year old overhead in the ladies bathroom at Webster Hall. “Girls” speaks about putting down your phone, enjoying the moment, enjoying the playground of life surrounding you. Abir is fairly new to the scene, however, she has already received support from Ebro, Zane Lowe as well as a cool collab with Masego.

New York artist Donny Goines has been very open about his battle with Depression and faithfully campaigns to quell the stigma of Mental Illness. The self-produced instrumental provides a calming soundscape for Goines’ pensive vocals, which still manage to translate an air of hope even from the his evidently somber mindstate.

“I wrote this song about my struggle with depression. I hope this helps others who may feel sad sometimes. It does get better. Believe me.”
